Timeline

Our partners made their first foray into the tea industry by acquiring one of India’s earliest bought-leaf factories. After four successful years of scaling operations and building processes, they envisioned a new enterprise rooted in integrity and excellence - the values that define Welcome Tea Company today.

1997

Welcome Tea Company was established as a greenfield partnership by Mr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Mr. Harish Kumar Agarwal, with an initial annual production capacity of 6 lakh kilograms.

2002

Production capacity was expanded to 1.2 million kilograms per annum, accompanied by the introduction of cutting-edge manufacturing technology that elevated both efficiency and quality. By 2007, the company had built strong trade channels with 100+ B2B buyers across India, with a major presence in Western India’s premium markets.

2006

Welcome Tea Company became a trusted supplier to multinational brands such as Tata Tea, Hindustan Unilever, and Girnar Tea consistently ranking among their top producers.

2010

Capacity was further expanded to 1.6 Million kilograms per annum, alongside continuous investment in process innovation, quality enhancement, and sustainable production practices.

2015

Achieved the prestigious Trustea Certification, among other industry recognitions, and became a priority supplier to Hindustan Unilever (HUL) - a major milestone that cemented the company’s position among India’s leading manufacturers.

2017

With sights set firmly on the future, Welcome Tea Company established a strategic growth plan to expand from one to four manufacturing units within the next decade - scaling capacity while maintaining the company’s hallmark quality.

2019

Following an extensive sourcing and feasibility process, the company decided to develop three additional production facilities — Bamunjuli Chai Udyog (Guwahati), Green Twigs (Tinsukia), and Kheram Tea Company (Arunachal Pradesh), and signed the contract for Kheram Tea Company - marking a bold step toward regional diversification.

2020

Production commenced at Kheram Tea Company, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and an annual capacity of 1 million kilograms.

2021

Operations began at Green Twigs and Bamunjuli Chai Udyog, ushering in Welcome Tea Company’s entry into the green tea segment - powered by advanced technology, and a commitment to crafting superior blends for evolving global tastes.

2023

Today, Welcome Tea Company stands as a multi-factory enterprise with a strong manufacturing footprint across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. With all four factories fully operational, the company is now focused on scaling capacity, expanding international distribution, and bringing world-class production practices to India.
